Front Porch Local started with a simple observation: the best local restaurants, shops, and hidden gems in any small town are known only to the people who live there. We're changing that.
To make it as easy to discover a great local diner in any small town as it is to find a chain restaurant in any big city.
It started on a road trip through Ohio. We pulled off the highway looking for lunch and ended up at a tiny diner that had been serving the same three-generation family recipes since 1952. No Yelp page, no Google presence โ just a handwritten "Open" sign and the best pie we'd ever eaten.
We drove home thinking about how many places like that exist across the Midwest. How many hidden gems are invisible to anyone who isn't already a local. How much of small-town America goes undiscovered simply because no one has built the right tool for sharing it.
Front Porch Local is that tool. It's built on the premise that your neighbors are the best algorithm that exists โ that a recommendation from someone who actually lives in your town is worth more than any star rating from a stranger passing through.
"A neighbor's recommendation beats any machine."
We built this because we genuinely believe that small towns and local businesses deserve better digital tools โ and that the communities that use them deserve a platform that puts them first.
Every feature we ship starts with the question: does this help a neighbor discover something local? Revenue is a result, not the goal.
We build for the towns everyone else drives through with the same care we'd build for a major city. Every community deserves great digital infrastructure.
A handwritten recommendation from someone who actually lives in your town beats any machine-ranked review from a stranger.
A neighbor's recommendation beats any machine. We build tools that amplify human knowledge, not replace it.
Every product decision starts with: does this make it easier to discover something local?
We build for the towns everyone else drives through with the same care we'd build for a big city. Every community deserves great local tools.
We're bootstrapped and profitable-first. We grow when the community grows, not when a funding round demands it.
Whether you're exploring your own backyard or planning a Midwest road trip โ there's something worth discovering near you right now.
